RE: Motorized RV Tax

I searched this site and could not find anything. http://www.epa.gov/fueleconomy/guzzler/ "These taxes apply only to passenger cars. Trucks, minivans, and SUVs are not covered because these vehicle types were not widely available in 1978 and were rarely used for non-commercial purposes."

RE: Avast 4 home (free edition)

I have had Avast for a few years now with no problems. In fact it is doing a light weekly scan as I type this. The type of scan you are talking about is the deep scan that takes hours. the light scan alwasy found any thing I have picked up and deleted it with no problems.

RE: Lifetime limited powertrain warranty for Dodge

Over 800 hard working Americans lost their jobs here in Toledo at the Jeep Plant on Friday and 168 were given pink slips at Toledo Machining here in Perrysburg. When I started at TMP 10 years ago we employed 3200+ now we have just over 600 and no commitment for any new work after 2011. But even facing the certain closure and job loss the workers still go in every day and put out the best quality steering columns and torque converters in the world. We Build the M.B. W5A580 TQ and do it cheaper, faster and at a higher quality rating than our competitor back in Germany, yes that’s right we are kicking their German Hinnies every day. Daimler pulled two SC from our plant and sent them to a Korean vendor only to have the lines shipped back to us do to the poor quality and inability to ship on time. Wonder how much that cost our bottom line? Bet not one UMC lost their job over that, in fact knowing how the Big Three reward incompetence in their Managers someone probably got a bonus for sending the lines back to us. That’s how the American’s and German’s do things. Yes Texan there are some corrupt Union Bosses out there, however it is not the Union’s that have hurt the big three, it is the Management. The Union workers total pay and benefit package only accounts for 12% of the cost of a vehicle (that is all of us), however more money is spent on upper tier Management pay, benefits, and bonuses then all of the hourly workers put together, that’s sad. Neither the union nor the Union worker is to blame for the currant condition the Big Three are in. Management and only Management can take 110% responsibility for this. The Union does not decide what we build they do (management) they decided to keep building gas guzzling vehicles. They decided to stop building less profitable small cars in favor over priced profit cows. They decided to ignore the customer trends and keep building what would end up being the possible death of the Big Three. So sorry No Way No How do you blame this mess on the Unions….No Way At All!!!!! To liken the Auto Industry to the Steel Industry is like comparing Apples and Oranges. When a Steel Mill closes it affects mainly just the local economy. But take out any of the Big Three and you are now affecting hundreds of thousands of companies. If you had any idea of the amount of parts that go into making an automobile it would blow your mind. Our plant alone spends 2-3 million every month on just inventory parts. Don’t fool yourself in thinking we have parts just sitting on shelves waiting to be used, it’s just the opposite. I needed a 1/2 “carbide end mill to repair a fixture and it took me 2 hours to get one. First you have to send a req to the crib and if it’s in stock this is how it goes. First you go get it (the req) and take it to your foreman for him to sign. After you track him down and explain why you need it, he signs it and you have to take it to the area manager. If he is busy you get to sit down and wait your turn. Anything under $35 and he signs it without much trouble. If is more then that he has to call the plant manager and if there isn’t a critical machine down she won’t authorize anything. Just a heads up we have 1.3 million SF of covered shop floor space and 10K+ of Ad building space. That adds up to a lot of walking baby. OK rant over not that it will change anyone mind but it gave me something to do for a little bit. Don PS I don't want to see a GM take over as it would be the end of Chrysler. IMOP my dad worked at Chrysler in the 60's, in 1999 I toured the truck plant in fenton mo. I was amazed at all the parts that go into assembling a truck, a real eye opener. I agree 100% with your above comments!

RE: How's your digital TV broadcast reception?

click http://ota.winegarddirect.com/ after checking out the above site, I notice that it lists the analog channel and a different channel for digital. Does this mean that come Feb 2009 we will have to learn new channels for the programs we watch?

RE: Dodge heating up when towing

Fan clutch will normally not have any impact on temp at highway speed. The fan is there for when you are idling and don't have 60 MPH air blowing in to the grill. Think about it, with that much wind coming at it, do you really think the fan is going to make any difference? Sure it may engage if the temp is hot enough, but that is just a function of how it works, not that it's needed. As a general rule: High speed overheating is a flow problem such as clogged radiator, stuck thermostat or radiator/condensor clogged with bugs or crud. Low speed overheating is a fan or fan clutch problem, sometimes thermostat. Also, never replace the thermostat on a modern vehicle with a lower temp one. It will just confuse the computer and throw things out of wack. then please explain to me why my fan kicks in going up hill and my temperature goes from 200 back to 180 and I am going 55 mph? and why when I changed my thermostat from the stock 195 to 180 I got better performance? maybe you can also explain why my Chrysler 300m came with a 180 thermostat?

RE: Differential gear ratios

My truck came with the 3.55 gears. coming up the grapevine hill from Bakersfield ca on south I-5 I would shift to second and the truck would crawl up the hill getting slower and slower sometime shifting to first. Now with the 4.10's I can leave it in third until I start to slow down and then shift to second, I even pass those 18 wheelers. With the 3.55 on flat ground I could never use overdive, now on flat ground I can use overdrive.
